Record your Gameplay
sorry for putting this post up, i did place it in another post
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10034428
but i named the title crap :S n therefore noones really looked to view my ideas. so thought this subject needs a independant post on its own. because its something so useful
A Demo Record System....
i think this is the big one, as most of us have seen lots of recordings of footage from in game, but it sucks that we have to use external programs for this, im sure ArenaNet could build sometihng easy and nice to use, with customize interface so you choose what you want to be shown on the demo such as party members compass etc or nothing, just your char and the world. it would need build in codec and compression, cuz i dont think people would like 500mb uncompresed avi like the joys of fraps causes. see i dont know why arena net can say no about this, because the videos people will make will only advertise the game some more.
Being able to turn auto downlaod off by choice, enough times ive had the little yellow symbol near the top right and started to lag. i think if theres updates people should be able to choose if they want to download them while they are playing. or when they restart Guildwars , if there is a way already i apologise because i havent found it .

I don't see any reason for the devs to waste their time on something like this when they could be working on more important content stuff.

People currently go through all the trouble of making movies of them playing Guild Wars to.... show off how they farm minotaurs. Sometimes you'll see a movie of someone who wants to show off farming hydras.
Wee. How captivating.

I'm sure arenanet could do something like this, but it's much easier for them to say "get fraps and shut up"

It's Guild Wars, not The Movies. They have a LOT better things to do than make this. Besides, if you are going to make a decent movie, you're probably going to use an external program which will probably be better anyhow.

ArenaNet already has the code for demo recording (observer mode). It would be a lot lighter process than using Fraps or something else. Then you play it and start recording with some video program. This would be client side process so no extra load for the servers.
